Aloha!
My name is Dr. Ryan Gillia (he/him/his). I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Hawai’i who is deeply committed to helping our local island community. Born and raised on Oahu, I hold deep appreciation for Hawaii’s unique history, culture, and values. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is grounding, calm, and welcoming of people of any race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, ability, language or cultural background.
I embrace a trauma-informed and multicultural therapeutic approach that is compassionate and non-pathologizing. I believe that human connection, curiosity, exploration, collaboration, and creative problem solving are integral to the healing process. In psychotherapy, I integrate evidence-based strategies supported by research on mind-body connection, somatic processing, attachment, parts of self, and brain-based practices. I am trained in Brainspotting and Somatic Embodiment & Regulation Strategies to help my clients recover from trauma and adverse lived experiences (individual, collective, and historical) and release the tension of survival response patterns stored in their bodies.
For self-care, I enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Dogs and fish also make me happy.
